A Quick Glance
Designed as a supplement to the technical expertise developed in Lean and Six Sigma training, our High IMPACT Teams provides an in-depth, practical set of skills that will enable participants to effectively lead a project team toward a successful implementation of proposed solutions. By engaging with a variety of learning techniques, participants gain confidence in their facilitation skills as they cultivate strategies for leading team members toward synergy, through barriers, beyond personalities and onto the outcomes they desire.
This three day course is highly interactive and offers ample opportunity to practice what you learn. Training is built around the IMPACT facilitation model, developed by Strategic Leadership Solutions for use with its quality initiatives, including:
I
Initiate Intentionally
Participants focus on setting the framework for an effective project team. Emphasis is placed on building synergy, cultivating attributes of good team members, establishing expectations and identifying roles for team members. In addition, participants master the art of developing a high impact agenda to establish the purpose and pace of meeting and monitor the progress of the team.
M
Manage Effectively
Effective facilitation requires managing in three dimensions: inward (knowing your own leadership strengths and weaknesses); outward (working with the other people on the project team); and onward (moving the team toward its desired outcomes). This phase of training captures all three. First, participants are guided through a review of their own leadership styles, identifying how they respond to challenges, stresses and conflicts. They learn to identify key triggers in their leadership patterns, and develop an action plan for personal development. Second, participants learn how their own styles differ from others. They develop an understanding about and the skills to deal with problem team members, including how to delegate, motivate and incorporate each personality type. Finally, participants discover how to keep the meeting and process on focus. Leadership skills presented include moving beyond “stuck,” eliminating off-ramps, identifying secondary issues and keeping team meetings on task.
P
Participate Willingly
Effective teams are engaged in and committed to the successful completion of the team’s charter and purpose. In this segment of the training, participants learn a variety of skills aimed at creating ownership and shared responsibility to the outcomes.Brainstorming skills, barriers to creativity and tips for generating high levels of participation comprise the learning objectives.
Act Strategically
The actions of an effective team are built on a pattern of thorough analysis and quality decision making. Participants evaluate a number of proven decision-making models, identifying strengths and weaknesses of each as they learn which one(s) might be useful for their own leadership style and unique team chemistry.
Communicate Effectively
Communication is critical to a team’s success or failure. Participants learn how communication (both good and bad) impacts team results and improve their understanding of strategies that either encourage or inhibit team-focused communication.
Transition Purposefully
Participants focus on the secrets of effectively leading the change process, the key reason why the project team was created in the first place. Purposeful change utilizes the unfreeze-move-refreeze model to efficiently bring about the desired change and solidify it as the new norm. A purposeful transition also brings the work of the team to a point of closure, celebrating successes even as it identifies additional opportunities for improvements in related processes.
